A Review and update of our journey….
It has been seven months since I wrote to you. ..Truly time flies and in a twinkling of the eye, the Association will be 18 years old by 5th November 2013! Here is thanking you for your support and efforts not only in keeping the Association alive and vibrant, but also the enthusiasm in keeping abreast Family Therapy development and its contributions to the lives of our clients we served.
A Successful Conference in Year 2012
The Conference, “A Collaborative Dance: Integrating Systemic Ideas in Clinical and Social Work Practice” organised jointly with SAC and SASW on 10 and 11 September 2012, ended with success! Many of the participants had written encouraging comments and feedback to the organising committee. Here are some quotes:
“A good conference helped to reflect on the work we are doing with our clients.”
“Great job! This was a wonderful platform for various helping professionals to share views and to learn more about how to work together.”
“Overall a good conference which provided many new ideas and opportunity to collaborate and network and have conversations.”
Although the conference had ended, the learning and developing of new ideas will continue!
In response to the positive feedback, Counselling and Care Centre will be bringing Mrs. Barbara McKay back to Singapore on 22nd and 23rd August 2013 to conduct a two days workshop. It is a follow up workshop to her thematic message at the conference on working collaboratively with multiple disciplinary professionals and holding a networking session that is affirmative and life giving, with the aim to foster greater collaboration among helping professionals for the best interests of our clients. As it is a follow up workshop from the Conference, AMFTS is involved as the supporting organisation for the workshop and will offer discounts to the workshop fees for all members who are keen to attend. Please look up for the announcement nearer to August.

Updating of Membership Records
The Ex-Co is currently busy preparing for the AGM. We would like to announce that we are in the process of updating our membership records. We hope that you will help us to facilitate the process by providing us your updated contact details and current status in professional development. A part time admin staff will be employed to help us in this. She will be in contact with you either by email or phone, in the coming months before AGM.
“Generating Conversations” online Journal by AMFTS
We would like to thank Mr. Tony Ong specially and his sub-committee for organising and maintaining the online Journal. Indeed, research and publications is hard work as writing involves much of our time and effort apart from our regular full time work. However, it is fulfilling as the process of writing clarifies and consolidates our professional work and contribution. It leaves a legacy for future generations of family therapists especially in our own unique context in Singapore.
We need all your help to keep it alive by contributing your articles and writing. Please write to us via our email address, “firstname.lastname@example.org” Additionally, we would like to welcome any member to join the sub-committee, if you are interested in the planning and organising of future issues of the journal.
This is all for the update and happenings.
May you continue to grow and develop in your quest for professional development in Family Therapy and may your growth be transformed to wisdom, love and understanding towards your clients as you journey with them in their lives.
